Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1
Walk from Marangu Gate through rainforest to Mandara Hut.
Day 2
Continue towards Horombo Hut as forest gives way to more open upland terrain.
Day 3
Spend an acclimatisation day at Horombo with a guide-directed outing and return to the hut.
Day 4
Ascend towards Kibo Hut, resting and preparing for the night’s conditional summit attempt.
Day 5
If the guide approves, attempt the summit through Gilman’s Point and descend to Horombo.
Day 6
Descend through the forest to Marangu Gate and transfer to the agreed hotel.
